Busted Bats

by Treemen

/
  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

Cover and inset design inspired by the 1973 Topps baseball card. The old baseball bat pictures were taken by Lynn Courter. Hunter Christy took the tree and saw pictures and did the Layout and Design. The bats on the cover belonged to Lynwood Joseph Christy of the White Oak Treemen. CD comes w/a new song, 'Faces and Places', from our next LP.

you come in fast, come in slow, come in out of the cold, going nowhere, going nowhere, going nowhere at all you need a place, you need a home, to rest your bones, when you can't do, when you can't do no more (but) remember when you...were riding bikes and lying in hammocks, and dancing to your favorite records

rising up in the morning, you wanna stay in the sun. coming out of the shadows, they kept you on the run spending time with your tools in hand, they work you to your bone. and so what if you feel some pain, at least it's your own. rising up in the morning, you wanna stay in the sun. summer mornings, sandy eyes. summer mornings, sweet surprise.

Moonbeams 03:49
Don't let go you can't see which way you're going, it's those moonbeams in your eyes You've still got so many dreams left to realize, before the new sunrise We're not gonna let this day get away We're not gonna let this day run away Nao Deixe Este Dia Passar Nao Deixe Este Dia Fugir

about

Shawna Sievert-Melodica, Claps, Cabasa, Vocals, Piano
Dale Baker-Percussion & Drums
Robert Sievert-Guitars, Vocals, Piano, Claps

Leading off with an ode to Vince Guaraldi and the Peanuts gang, Treemen are having fun as a 3-piece. Dale Baker (Sixpence None the Richer, Big Star's 'Third') brings both a sublime and exotic percussive flair to propel these songs forward. A 1926 family piano is featured on 3 of the tracks, and the 'live' capture of this ep is something heretofore only heard at Treemen shows. 'Bikes and Hammocks'-their first real pop song since 'June'- looks back from the end of a loved one's life at the active little ones doing what can now only be done in memory. 'Summer Mornings' takes 3 twists and turns over its 7 minutes of waking up. Finally, a samba, 'Moonbeams' sends earnest wishes of carpe diem, closing the ep and shedding a light forward to the dreams of the next LP, where electric instruments and solos are dying to come forward.

Special Thanks to Manuel Adelino and Teresa Monteiro for the Portuguese help on 'Moonbeams'
